US Cyber Command Issues Hacker Alert

Every link in an email is a potential threat.

Last week it was the city of Riviera Beach Florida. This week the city of Atlanta, Philadelphia and Lake City, had their networks shut down due to a phishing attack. An employee simply clicking on a link in an email was enough for hackers to penetrate the network, encrypt their data and hold it for ransom. The US Cyber Command just issued a hacker alert saying Microsoft’s Outlook is vulnerable to phishing attacks.

The proliferation of these attacks is proving that the best antivirus software is not preventing these attacks. What is needed is a virus free browsing solution.

Hackers are now demanding ransomware, which is a more advanced type of malware because it limits users from accessing their computer either by encrypting the user’s files or completely locking the computer. The hacker will then ask you to pay a ransom (ransomware) in Bitcoin (to hide their identity) in order to get your files decrypted. The problem is that the hacker can embed additional malware before they give it back.

This problem is about to get a lot worse. You have heard of software as a service, well there are new industry terms being created just for this method. They are calling it phishing as a service or ransomware as a service.

How to prevent phishing attacks.

The hacker gets an employee to either click on a link, or download an attachment, in an email. That then inserts a virus into the network and the nightmare begins. In order to always be safe, the link or attachment CANNOT be opened on the device but in the cloud. TraceFree is a cloud browser that runs on a server in the cloud so every link is opened on the server and never on your device. This always keeps your network safe from hacker attacks.

The Depart of Defense and major financial institutions are already using the cloud browser to protect their networks. Why aren’t you?
