“Our work is protecting yours”…Web Partners

  • Situation – Company is required to visit the highest risk websites.
  • Challenge – Current antivirus solutions have proven to be ineffective.
  • Solution – TraceFree Browser and Send To TraceFree extension installed on 2 devices
  • Results – Web Partners chooses TraceFree for virus free and fast web browsing

Situation

Web Partners has found that most pirated content is found on smaller unsecure sites.

Clicking links on unsecure websites and in emails represents the greatest cybersecurity threat to Web Partners when searching for digital content.

They enlisted TraceFree for a way to surf the Web without getting a virus and at faster speeds than their current method.

“It is never comforting to see the “Not Secure” warning from Chrome”

Challenge

Web Partners uses the leading antivirus program, a corporate firewall, and a virtual private network that promises “completely private and secure browsing”.

All of these secure browsing solutions have not prevented malware (and other tracking identifiers) from getting on their devices and network.

They also made searching for pirated content very slow.

“In order to do our job we have to visit sites that are notoriously known for embedding viruses in links”

Solution

Web Partners told us they have 2 methods for searching for stolen content.

  1. They search on 4 specific search engines and 3 message boards
They also receive Google Alert emails with links to the sites.

They installed 2 TraceFree License Keys on 2 Dell Windows 7 PCs that had no antivirus programs installed and were not running behind the company’s Firewall

A special web page was created that included a custom built search engine for all 4 search engines and the 3 message boards.

They used the “Send To TraceFree” Chrome Extension for links in their Google Alert emails.

Results

For the period March through May 2019, Web Partners used TraceFree and the Send To TraceFree Chrome extension exclusively to search for online pirated content.

Stats:

  • 17,000 (approx) websites visited
  • 2000 (approx) links in emails opened
  • 437 links with pirated content found
  • 0 Viruses
  • 0 Cookies
  • 0 Evidence of any browsing on the devices
“TraceFree offers us an easy and secure way to visit websites. By giving us a virus free browsing solution, we can safely visit ANY website and see which ones are posting copyrighted material without the worry of any malicious viruses getting on our devices or our network.”
